Site Monitor Report on Bshila December 2015

The village of Bshila is smaller in size than its neighboring settlements and the ruins there are generally in good shape due to their solid construction. The Sarhiyeh gate has also been well preserved. A series of tombs and burial sites can be found just outside the village.

On December 24th, 2015, Site monitors surveyed the site and documented damage due to:

  1.  Illegal digging by looters.
  2.  Neglect over the last five years.
  3.  Repeated attacks by the regime troops and the Russian air force.
  4.  Vandalism
  5.  Damage due to land reclamation.

Quarrying stone from the site to be used in new construction.
