Al-Najiya is strategically located on the highway between Aleppo and Lattakia. It lies 22 km southwest of Jisr-Alshugoor, 70 km away from Idlib City, 60 km away from the city of Lattakia, and 4 km away from Bidama village. It also falls in the area where the borders of Idlib and Lattakia governorates meet. In ancient times, it used to be known as “Kafr Najd”. Its Aramaic name, Kafr Najiya, means the famous village.
A quick survey was conducted on Sheikh Yasin Mosque, a building that dates back to the Ottoman era, after being targeted by Russian jets. The bombing left a lot of damage inside the mosque as well as on its west side as shown in the following photos
